Why people do the things they do

It is ironic how some people are lead down the garden path through greed and a sense of wanting to be some one / whatever that is supposed to mean. What I am trying to say is; many of the members who get involved with the Cupe organization and move up the ladder, sort of speak, to become provincial presidents and divisional presidents and then onto national boards are usually nobodys that are in the right place at the right time and get entrenched in the idea of becoming the leader of some form of religious cult or organization with sectors throughout the country. They actually believe they are of greater knowledge than the average person and they believe they are untouchable and they think some day they are going to make history and the world will be a better place because of something they did. The other aspect that really gets to me is they all think they are the only one that can run this outfit. I have news for them, anyone who can talk the talk and pretend they believe all the rhetoric can run this outfit because it is so far out of control that a high school kid surrounded by ten groupies who can take orders and pass the buck can run this show and quite a show it is. There is a distinct difference between running an organization properly with the best interest of the members who are the contributors and running an organization with only the interests of a select few in mind. Cupe is operating fine ;but not with the true best interest of it’s members. Real proof is in the results. Watchdog annie.

CUPE never makes mistakes

I have been around for many years and only once have I heard a national representative apologize for making a mistake; and actually he was apologizing for another representative’s hostile and ridiculous behaviour. People make mistakes, so own up to them and apologize and try to earn some respect. This is not the cupe way: they would rather try to hide the mistake or make up some excuse or bare face lie about ever stating what was stated or performing what ever act they performed. Do we pay to train these people to act like this or does it come natural to them ? Whatever the answer is does not really matter because a complete overhaul of the system is required and a whole new form of accountability and conduct must be created, if this organization is going to survive. I hope and I truly believe the next generation is not going to put up with the foolishness that is tossed our way by national today. I think they are going to persuade governments to change legislation to put the members in the position to give national unions ultimatums. Basically, shape up or ship out. I hope I am still around when that day arrives. Watchdog annie.

CUPE and Mental Illness

As time goes on, it becomes more apparent that there is and can be very unhealthy individuals holding executive positions on many locals and at the national level. What I mean by this is, there are many people today who have various degrees of mental illness, addictions, and physical illnesses such as diabetes that affect their mental states and in turn can affect the way they proceed in their decision making in relation to how they think members should be represented or not represented or how the composition of an organization like cupe is to look like and conduct itself. This may sound off the beaten track but it is not; believe it or not, people with mental illnesses are involved with cupe at the higher levels and their ability to remember and apply common sense is somewhat tainted when the sugars are up or they neglect to take their medication and properly look after themselves. Please do not get me wrong, I am not stating people with difficulties should not be involved with managing the organization; but what I am stating is, if you have problems, these problems should be identified to the rest of the executive members and monitored so these people are not making decisions that are jeopardizing the welfare of the membership when they are not in the right frame of mind. One person who is having difficulty with stability can ruin many lives without anyone knowing or suspecting; and when it finally comes to light, the damage is done and irreversible. Take a look at your top hogs and try to figure out if they are doing what is right for the majority and for the right reasons and making common sense to you. Watchdog annie.

More CUPE foolishness

Did you check out national’s website lately? They are canvassing for some encyclopedia outfit for donations. What is this all about? Sometimes I question as to what other scams are they really involved in outside of supposedly looking after union business for their members and I also question as to what kind of kick backs they are receiving. Do not forget they give exclusive rights to certain companies for selling tee shirts and flags and sweaters,etc. and they promote certain companies to deal with when we look for outside legal advice or purchase flyers,etc.. National has a policy that they can only accept I think it is up to 100.00 in gifts from companies;but I do not think it specifies how many times a year they can accept these gifts or from how many companies. The point being is: if you go to dinner and accept gifts from companies sooner or later you are going to be placed in a situation that may be delicate in nature and you will have to either fire the company you are doing business with or keep them and some people will sway towards keeping them versus firing them due to their personal relationships and what they have received from these companies in perks. As far as I am concerned there should be no gift receiving in any form and national should be only doing the business our members hire them to do / union business ---- end of discussion. How people can change

I would like to warn everyone who gets involved in cupe at the executive level to check in with themselves and ask outsiders and members if they have changed since they have been in these positions from the time they started at the lower levels. Many people change and not for the better, they commence wanting to help those who can not help themselves and after a period of a few years they are more interested in helping themselves to the top of the totem pole. When executive members stop returning your calls or meet with you numerous times but do nothing; then you know they are starting to turn. Hold onto your chair because this is just the beginning of the road of no return for proper representation and excuses of why it is not possible to do anything for you and why you receive garbage contracts. Most commence with the right idea or a good cause to help people ; but like everything else, they can get persuaded to join the big guys if the big guys pay enough attention to them. There should be a monitoring system that each local has that details the number of inquiries by members and the results. I realize this is on file with each local but how often is it properly attended to, Possibly, it could be incorporated in annual meetings so members could see the number of phone calls, meetings, complaints,.etc. that have been handled by the executive members in a specified period of time. Maybe this would put more accountability into the system and reduce the rumours in locals about what has or has not been done. Just a thought. Watchdog annie.

How did you land up in CUPE

Why do you think the workers choose cupe over other unions when they look to be unionized? In some provinces, they do not have a choice because legislation dictates what grouping certain professions or work details are to be with and when they are unionized they are placed in the union the provincial government / labour board delegates they will be placed with. In most cases though, if you look outside government, you will see cupe puts on many extensive campaigns and spends a never ending amount of money for recruitment to show the glitter and the perceived glory that will come with them if you join them. People get attracted to the whoopla that exists with political groups and they want to belong to something that is powerful and full of promises. People love to dream and cupe will let you dream as long as you are dreaming their dream and remain consistant in the hopes that some day before you retire you will receive the hourly wage you are rightfully entitled to. Unfortunately, dreams do not pay the bills and it is high time cupe put their money where their mouth is. The contracts cupe are signing do not cut it. They always blame it on the members ratifying the contracts but do not kid yourself cupe is behind the propaganda that states this is the best deal we have seen in years and if you turn this down you will never see another like this offer in your lifetime. It only takes 50 plus 1 to make it over the line. Watchdog annie.

CUPE and Strike pay

What do you think about our strike pay program with national? It does not kick into gear until the tenth day; so this becomes a tool to persuade members who can not afford to be on strike without any form of pay for two weeks to vote against a strike, even though they are going to get shafted by the employer. The only benefit to this program is to national and the employer ; but not to the members. It becomes a cost saving measure for cupe because they do not have to dole out any money to the helpless strikers nor do they have to do any extra work that is involved when a group goes on strike : if the workers vote against a strike. This is also a great advantage the employer uses to lessen the offer to the workers because they know what will break a deal or cruise it over the line; and the fact the workers will be out of income for two weeks, reduces the offer in the pot. The strike pay for strikers needs to go back to day one to restore any possibility of any additional increase today’s workers are going to be offered from the employer in the final days of negotiations. CUPE and municipal Politics

Cupe has jumped on the band wagon of politics to a greater degree lately encouraging members to get involved to the extent of running for office in their municipalities or getting nominated and elected to various boards, etc. I think this is probably a good thing as long as the people they are supporting are decent and are not necessarily influenced by some of the Cupe ways. What I mean by this is, supporting labour and attempting to make sure there is fair treatment and adequate pay adjustments and keeping essential services public is a good thing; but raising taxes to the extent the common folk and the elderly are starving is another. I guess what I am saying is if members money is going to be used for this purpose in any degree or amount ; then, the members should be okay with it and an established amount be put in place by the members to maintain contribution equality and there be some criteria established to choose someone of interest that is well rounded in the sense of decision making and experience. This being the case, it would not cost the members very much annually because these kind of people generally stay out of politics. Watchdog annie

CUPE and professional groups

Cupe is also involved in various professional groups that have associations that monitor the members behaviour in relation to their profession under a code of conduct of the association. The association out powers the union and many times members of cupe who are in these various professional associations are disciplined by the association if their panel of judges think they have done something that has went against their professional code of conduct within that association. Associations can remove one’s license to work or practice for a month, a year, or for a lifetime and there is no recourse. Cupe may not believe in this format; although it is similar to their kangaroo court, but they have no problem unionizing these groups of people and taking their monthly contributions. I think everyone should have the right to organize, but when it comes to associations, I think the association should become the union for that group and maybe the discipline issue and other issues would be more appropriately handled. How CUPE get "thier" puppets elected in Locals

If a rep. from cupe ever tells you he or she is not permitted to get involved in the politics of whoever is going to be on the executive of a local or at the national level , do not believe them. It is like asking a politician if he or she ever get involved in any areas that may be a conflict of interest and they say no. Yes, in an ideal world, if the reps. followed policy they would not interfere but this is no where near an ideal world. If their bosses say interfere or suggest they interfere, they will interfere to the fullest in whatever way they think they can without being too noticeable. What they are supposed to stand for and what they do is again like a politician before and after they are successful in an election. These reps. know the outcome of an election is going to make their life easy or accountable and they always choose easy. If they are unsuccessful ; and many times they are , they always have a couple of backup plans that will hoist the ones they want off the executive out. It takes a very skilled player to stay in the game and remain challenging the system and there are still a few out there fighting for the people; but they are marked and eventually the majority will take them done with no sympathy to their dedicated work and honesty. Cupe is ruthless and most of the players are full of venom, ready to strike at a moments notice if it is going to have a perceived impact on their cushy career. Watchdog annie.

CUPE and thier "OWN" Union

What exactly is on the national board’s agenda that is of so much importance that they can not address the ongoing needs of the membership? One major issue; and there are numerous more, is having the regional directors out of the union the reps. are in. I have mentioned this before as to how ridiculous this is and I have been unable to find out how this was permitted to come about in the first place. One can only presume, the reps. got together and created this monster for their own benefit. Is a union sister or brother going to go against another union sister or brother ; especially if they are representing a union organization. The whole concept becomes a vicious circle; and who suffers is always the poor average member. If a rep. does not treat you properly or fairly or chooses to do nothing for you, you can complain to the national president if you choose and he or she will boot the problem down the line and the regional director will have to meet with the rep. and buy her/ him a coffee while he/she explains to her or him on how to properly do her/his job and to try and not let it happen again. It becomes just one big happy family covering up for one another and at the end of the day everything has been taken care of the cupe way. This collaborative union concept that exists with the reps. and their bosses has not and will not ever work to the benefit or well being of the membership. I think the regional directors should be non union management personelle. Someone has to be accountable in this organization at some point in time. It is time the national boards get down and do the parts of their job that require their immediate attention and will affect the members for years to come and forget about their personal agendas and images. CUPE Members against CUPE Members

What do you think about supervisors and regular employees being in the same union and being disciplined by their fellow union members ? Cupe has no problem with this; because of course, there is more money coming in through increased dues and probably less complaints or grievances due to who the bosses are and how they fit in. To expand on this further, the supervisors are usually more aggressive and they usually run for executive positions on locals because they are not going to be directed by low lifes like regular employees so once again the fairness in the system is jeopardized. The big kicker is negotiations because the supervisors; if they are executive members, sit on the negotiating team and they can settle for a whole lot less because their salaries are in the vicinity of 10,000.00 per year more than the next level so the little guy gets the shaft again. I think there should not be any supervisors who perform job evaluations or are involved in any aspect of discipline permitted to be in the same union as the people they are supervising. CUPE's power of sugestion

The one thing that urks me beyond belief is the fact Cupe can get away with persuading the members that the cost of living in Canada has only went up 2 % per year in the last five years. Who are they trying to kid / well I guess they are kidding us because we are falling for it and signing collective agreements with 2 and ½ % per year over four and five year periods. Can you imagine their professional research team : whoever they are, has come up with these figures. Did you buy gas or groceries lately or fill your oil tank ? There is a distinct difference in 2% for a person making 100,000.00 per year and someone making 20,000.00 gross per year. According to their team, it does not make any difference. Well, where I come from we pay the same for a loaf of bread and a litre of gas no matter if we make 8.00 per hour or 100.00 per hour ; and trust me, it is a whole lot easier paying for the regular household and family bills making 100.00 per hour. Basically, a lot Cupe members are unionized taking home salaries equal to welfare wages and sometimes below welfare wages. Wake up Cupe and stop scamming us. Watchdog annie.

CUPE"S way of controlling people

Administration : now that is a nasty word and can even be a nastier experience if one is on the receiving end as being either the general membership or the executive of a local that this takes place with. When national decides to take a local under administration they can do it without any warning and without any valid reason because this is how the national constitution bylaws are formulated. This has been challenged on many occasions with little or no success even though it was determined there were no money discrepancies or ill will towards the members by the local executive. Please do not make the mistake and mention that the members should look to joining another union because of the treatment they have received or little or no representation by cupe because your local will be put under administration before you wake up in the morning. Cupe has ruined many lives of good honest hard working members who have devoted the best part of their lives to serving the members just because they did not agree with something that was said about national’s inabilities or changes they felt would benefit the members. Once a local is put under administration the rumours commence; and even though the truth comes out months later, the damage has already been done and national to this day has never taken any responsibility for their actions when they were wrong. Every biannual, there are proposals from locals who have experienced this to make the appropriate changes and all we get is broken promises and more lies .They almost get a big high on destroying good people. I still believe some day this is going to change and I hope I am around to see it.

Harassment in the workplace

The topic for the day is harassment in the workplace ; but not by the management people. The harassment in the workplace is by our own members and is an every day occurrence at many worksites; and national is not capable or willing to address this. If you contact a rep. or r.d. : they will meet with you several times and try to get you to calm down and not be so disturbed over the matter to the extent you will give up and not file an harassment charge at work against the fellow member who continues to harass you. There have been cases throughout the country where reps. have represented the harassers and not the members who have been harassed. There even have been cases where the rep. has tried to dig up dirt on the members who filed the complaint in order to have the harassment charge dropped. The bottom line is; when this occurs, both parties require immediate representation from the union and the members being harassed should have representation by people of their choice. Do not let them pull a fast one on you if this takes place because you will end up being the bad person in the end ; even though you have been the one who has been tormented by the other member or members all along. CUPE structure

Any large union can be portrayed like Germany in the second world war; where one person can ruin a whole country or a whole organization, if they are permitted to be the supreme leader with no one advising them other than their supporters. This is how the cupe structure is : the national president interprets the constitution and can not be challenged on this other than in a court of law because if someone dares to question anything they will have to at the biannual every two years and it will most certainly be defeated by the followers. Do not kid yourself because at a national convention it is always orchestrated that the majority of the attending members are followers of the grand puba. There has never been one supreme leader in the history of the world that has not destroyed the civilization that the leader belonged to so why would cupe be any different; and furthermore, why would intelligent learned individuals heading the creation of the national constitution permit this type of structure to exist let alone continue to operate unless there was something for them at the end of the tunnel. I think it is time to knock down the great pyramid and build a new foundation that protects and supports the real values of unionism. Watchdog annie.

Senority and CUPE Reps

I know I have touched on this subject before ; but, what do you think about reps. only doing a set number of years or putting them on contract or at least having some of the services contracted out. The present system does not work because once they are in, they accumulate

The present system does not work because once they are in, they accumulate senority and they eventually become permanent and there is no way of disposing of them. The other problem is there is no real set framework for reps.around what their job entails. They do everything from filing grievances to adjudications to giving out papers and being door people at conferences. I think they should be confined to only dealing with grievances and assisting with negotiations. The adjudications should be performed by the lawyers; and if there are too many to be dealt with at a certain time, then have an outside lawyer to handle them. The other thing that should take place is : if you are hired as a secretary, you perform secretarial duties; not automatically become a rep. your last five years of work to beef up your pension settlement .the research and the media people should be all contracted out or given to members within that have the expertise and are willing to perform these duties for a specified period of time. I will close my thought today by stating in no circumstances should hired reps. be attending conferences and meetings where their main objective is to obtain a free coffee and a donut, promote propaganda, spy on the little people, and neglect the members they should be representing. It is high time members stepped up to the plate and demanded proper representation from the very people they pay. Watchdog annie.

More on CUPE volunteers

Why would anyone in their right mind today get involved as a volunteer with cupe? The people who have got involved and have given an honest effort and cared about the rights of workers and the treatment of everyone in the workplace have got burned every time by some rep., regional director, or a national executive board member some time throughout their volunteer career ; if you can classify volunteering as a career. You are not told this when you take the initial training anymore. At one time, cupe had volunteers who knew what they were talking about and they had the knowledge base and the necessary experience and they would lay out the ground rules and the risks involved that come with being part of this organization. Today the majority of the people they can find who are interested in volunteering are those who want power or want to become reps. This is the trend and it is not going to change because this is the way for permanent control to continue and for the wool to be kept over the members’ eyes. Cupe is not about the members, it is about cupe. Do not get fooled by the statement ; cupe is the members. Saying this, cupe would not exist without the members and their monthly contributions. CUPE Reps on Strike With the CUPE Local

Here is a thought for the day. Every time there is a strike, the striking group always makes a comment about the national reps. should be on strike when they are on strike, so they can understand what they are going through and what they are trying to survive on. Even though this is a fantastic thought, this is never going to happen ; or if you could find an executive board that would stand strong and negotiate this, there would never be another strike in cupe across the country. Reps. do not like strikes because they have to work and be accountable ; and further more, they make more money when their group is on strike because of the supposed increased workload and hours. Reps. are not going to understand or truly care about strikers because at the end of the day they have made it to the big leagues and we are just a means to an end for them. CUPE and the right to fair representation

Today there are still provinces that do not have duty of fair representation for members of unions in relation to acts that affect their labour boards. This is just another example of unions getting away with whatever they want and not fighting for the rights of their members. Cupe will fight when it comes to another union talking to their members or when they think they should be part of some board in a particular province ; but when it comes to something that actually benefits and protects the rights and interests of the members they do not want any part of it. Duty to fair representation gives the members the right to file a complaint with their respected labour board when a national union decides to write it’s own rules and dictate how things are going to be and who is going to be in charge.This can be as simple as the national union president or one of the national executive board members or a chrony does not like the local president or local executive ;or the executive may have called the national union on some facet of misappropriation and the national union just steps in and eliminates these people dragging their names through the mud at the same time with no remorse or conscience. Without this , unions like cupe can abuse their power and basically do whatever they want whenever they want and the dues paying members are at their mercy. Trust me, cupe national has did this many times and will continue to do it because there is no legislation and they have all the members money to discredit people and fight in the courts. It is like paying for something you think you have but you do not have--------premiums for an insurance that only exists in theory not principle. Watchdog annie

CUPE NAtional Expenses

Why is it that no one questions the expenditures of the national executive board in relation to the purchase of water bottles, mouse pads, flags, pins, and paper products to advertise cupe. The dues that is collected should not be used to purchase articles that are expensive and appear to have the only sole purpose for to outdo the competition. Sure, there should be a certain amount allotted for recruitment and necessary paperwork that explains what your union organization is all about; but when you are talking about tens of thousands of dollars going towards items that are not necessary for the well being of the membership, then you are over extending your position in relation to making decisions on additional expenditures. If this organization is going to straighten it’s act up, there needs to be clear and concise guidelines and policing of expenditures at the national level, with no exceptions to the rules. This is the way it is at the local level throughout the country ; so the old saying should remain true,what is good for the goose should be good for the gander. Watchdog annie.

Who does CUPE recruit ?

What do you think about the training programs they put on. It seems cupe is more interested in trainers not telling the real truth about being a volunteer and let these poor people feel they are important until they run into a stumbling block when they go to represent someone whose grievance may be a little outside the norm. they recruit trainers who are not really equipped to do training because the majority do not have this type of background or do this for a living. Cupe is able to somewhat brainwash them into how to put a program on and how to present the national way to the members interested in getting involved in union work. At the end of the day, we end up with a group of people who are not properly trained to represent the membership. What is the answer? Cupe is supposed to be in the union business, not the training business. Hire, under contract, members who do this for a living to do the training and the followup. Separate the training of volunteer representatives from the propaganda and maybe they can acquire a greater percentage of members who will be able to do the job properly and the way it should be done; with a whole lot less guess work and problems. RCMP and CUPE

Everyone continues to wonder why the R.C.M.P.has not went after this organization because of the various inappropriate extremely inaccessive amounts of money that has presumably been used for various purposes with no accountability whatsoever. Cupe national only has three trustees and they hire out to an accounting firm to balance the books. Well, all that happens here is two plus two has to equal four; but when we are talking about two million plus two million equals four million it balances; but if the actual cost to purchase the service or item or construct the building should have been one quarter of a million, then we have a major problem. Their system works for them but it does not work for us ;and until someone in the know how actually blows the whistle, we are being ripped off big time. Cupe supports whistle blowers as long as they are not blowing the whistle on them. Word on the street is the R.C.M.P. has files on all the cupe national regional directors, the division presidents, and the national president and secretary treasurer; but what does it take to have them drop the hammer and investigate this bunch. If they think they are going to get clear concise evidence on this bunch they are barking up the wrong tree; but if they steer their attention to the computer system purchase scandal, or maybe interview a few of the past top executives in Ottawa who have been let go in recent years, they will get all they need to bring them down. CUPE and YOUR Pension

The big treat of the week this week is cupe would like to have trusteeship over our pension and benefit plans. Well , I am hear to tell you, do not go along with this chess game because you will lose and I mean lose big time. If your employer is the stakeholder in your pension and benefit package and they are solely responsible for it and if the plan goes down the tubes or takes a swing downward let the employer maintain the risk and insure the future of your benefits through the employer’s payroll versus the employees’ pocket books. Cupe has made deals in the last few years that have caused extreme heartache to members who have worked for many years with the same employer and are expecting an adequate pension when they retire and an appropriate benefit package as they journey through life. This can come to an abrupt halt when a union decides it is best for their members if the union looks after their benefit package. If you have members who sit on boards that keep you abreast of what is going on and have a little input into improvements to various plans, that is one thing ; but , never let anyone talk you into voting for cupe or any other union to take over your pension or any benefit plan. Leave the risk up to the employer; and rest assured, they will not gamble their money away because cupe will hide behind local union automomy when it comes to risk and you will be left out in the cold. Another waste of CUPE money ?

What do you think about these cupe national provincial divisions? What purpose do they actually provide? Honestly, all these divisions separate the national union from the members. This is another blocker and another avenue for cupe to get a little more of your monthly dues and another sector that protects the national interest from getting it’s hands dirty. Locals do not have to belong yet; but there is a large selling job when a new local is formed and becomes part of cupe national. If a group of provincial locals or one large local would like to open it’s own division, it is not permitted under the cupe national constitution. What happened to democracy. Cupe has no problem with unions under their umbrella having associations that discipline and dictate their own code of conduct. Every aspect of the cupe divisions are replicas of the national union structure and agenda. The only possible benefit would be to a very small local who belongs to a divisional group who still has a strike fund to help with the first 9 days;but, if it is that small then the other large locals would probably contribute enough to look after any expenses that would be incurred. If members would do the calculation: for instance, if a union local had 1000 members and they put away 1.00 per member per month away for ten years, at the end of this period they would have approx. 120,000.00 dollars before accumulated interest to be used to assist the strikers; if they had a strike every ten years. Once again, you are probably getting scammed, if you do not require strike pay on a regular contract to contract basis. Try not to let your eyes wander too far away form the Ottawa nerve centre. How do People get involved with CUPE

In general, most of the people who get themselves involved in unions are people who had a grievance in the beginning that was not handled properly and they decided to put their money where their mouth was ; and instead of continuing to complain about the lack of interest or incompetence ,they got involved in the union. This I primarily true for most of the people who get involved in cupe. Now of course, you still have the initial self servers who are and will remain scum; but for the majority, they started out on the right foot. After they are there for years, they continue to hang around with union leaders who know the game, play the game, and trust nobody and they become just like them. It is like a small child being born into the world and after years of conditioning from a crazy parent , they become crazy also. One can ask why is it that they start out knowing the problem issues and challenge these issues and after a while they make a little headway towards resolving these issues, that they make a complete 360 degree turn around. This is because the members think these people are strong and intelligent and they are not. We look at how they started and how they have progressed but we neglect to listen to the foolish babble that comes out of the mouths after they have come back from a few brainwashing conference sessions with cupe national. Cupe can pick these people out a mile away, not because they are gifted; but, because this is what the whole organization is made up of and they have all been brainwashed or bought/same difference when you get the final results. The big guns are just picking themselves out of the line up. These people are easy targets ; and after a while they believe they are actually making decisions that are good for the people and they are right and you are wrong. We almost require outside intervention to deprogram these spaced out cowboys and cowgirls before they hurt any more good people. why is it that a divisional president is always practically guaranteed a reps. position ? are they any more qualified than someone who has put in 20 or 25 years as a volunteer or is it when you get to this level you are a captain in the mafia and you have so much damaging information on your fellow big guys that the only way to keep you shut up is to give you a job with emormous pay and never ending benefits . the divisional presidents i have met over the years have big mouths, are good at shaking hands and giving lip service, and talk the cupe talk ; but as far as having any knowledge or ambition to represent the members in the way they should be represented, it is not there. no matter where one goes there appears to be a never ending amount of politics and this has been proven time after time to be of NO BENEFIT to the average person.in this case, the membership pays big bucks for a guarantee of lip service only. watchdog annie

CUPE and dead wieght employees

Everyone is aware of how large organizations acquire supervisors, management teams, and essentially the top hogs who run the outfit -------- they take the dead weight crew and the ones who are incapable of performing the work and move them up the ladder. After a period of time, if there was any one of any value there, they quit or retire and you are left with a complete series of dead beats who make decisions between themselves that only benefits themselves in relation to their continued existence within the organization. Well, this is how cupe national is run and you can take this to the bank------- a group of dead beats looking after themselves; and every now and then when the majority of the working poor get restless, they through them a bone. How CUPE Corrupts Key people

What is it that makes a member who becomes a shop steward and moves up the volunteer ranks to become an executive member turn bad. At the beginning, these people are out there helping everyone and giving up most of their free time and taking on the employer when needed and taking on the big guys at national when needed. Is it when they get elected to a divisional position that does it or is it when they get elected to the national executive board or is it when they get an acting position as a national rep.? well I am here to tell you, it is when they think they have a little power; and this is usually when they get to the board level and they are usually guaranteed a rep. position, that they start to turn bad. Some are bad to the bone in the beginning. What do I mean by bad? This is when they start looking after themselves and let on they are supporting you and your concerns or grievances: this is when they side with national over the interest of the member or local ; and this is when they lie so much they forget what lie they told you last week but this week the new lie is the truth. These people have a price and that is money and power and you will not see it coming until it is too late ; and even if you do, the moral majority will not believe you and you will become an outcast. When the majority realizes you were telling them the truth about this person, they will be so embarrassed, they will go along and continue to support this person who has gone bad and has become a rep. or a board member or even worse; has become the national president or secretary treasurer or some kind of consultant to the board. CUPE strikes

have you ever had the unfortunate opportunity to go on strike with the cupe organization. well this is an experience that members will never forget. first the rep. in charge will do every thing possible to discourage the membership to challenge the employer for more money and better benefits and try to get a few cents more to get a quick deal signed. if he or she is unsucessful, then the regional director will meet with the executive and have meetings with the members to discuss how difficult and expensive a strike is and how the members always lose out in a strike. the national union always states they are behind the members but this is a total croc. the bottom line is they have no choice once the embers vote and go out.if the members are strong enough and they stand up to cupe and the employer they will get to strike;and this is when the fun begins. cupe national is upset because they have to kick in on the 10th day with the members prepaid srike fund and the reps. have to work a full work week to attend meetings and other related duties attached to a strike. i must not forget the reps. get paid extra money when there is a strike. the executive and the members have to not only fight the empoyer but they also have to fight the union because cupe will do everything possible to sabotage the strike and have it end prematurely before what the members should be settling for is offered by the employer. cupe does not want members to get the best settlements out there because there would be more strikes and the expectations for better settlements within the whole organization of members would be the responsiblity of the national union. keep your eyes on them, do not trust any of them,and please do not believe what comes out of their mouths. watchdog annie

CUPE rarely THANKS volunteers

One would think cupe would have a day set aside to recognize the thousands of volunteers who give many hours of their life each year to the cause / being representing members in the endeavours to obtain fair wages and conditions in the work place. These volunteers are the shop stewards and the local executive members who are the real backbone of the organization. It appears they are more interested in earth day or some other made up day than recognizing and appreciating the good honest volunteer work that is done throughout the country. I think this is why cupe national and the country of cuba are so tight. They think alike/ never permit the people to know they are special and appreciated and never acknowledge the good work they do as volunteers. Watchdog annie.

CUPE and Politics

I touched a little on politics and cupe national funding campaigns for the ndp; but when it comes to federal politics, you will see the big hogs sitting at the ndp conventions and at the same time they are signing cheques for the bloc party in quebec . What do you think about this? The national president and the national secretary treasurer are buying quebec support/votes with the cupe members money and the national executive committee and the national executive board are going along with it. Is this illegal and unethical : it most certainly is. Is any one going to do something about it? No. why? You do not have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out : if you want to keep your fingers in the cookie jar, you keep your mouth shut. They get to call in some favours, they get to go to Ottawa and eat with the big wigs and discuss what should be improved in the world through their eyes, and they get to sit on a few committees and fly around the world. This is the kind of crap that has taken down federal governments. I hope I am still alive when members decide to speak up and request bringing in the authorities to take a real look at where the money has gone and is going. Watchdog annie.

CUPE laptop fun

Did you see the new look of the nat. reps.; walking around and attending meetings with a lap top computer attached to their shoulders. They look like school children going to a meeting to take notes on something they know absolutely nothing about. They get a new lap top every one to two years and most of the time they are playing solitaire or buying off ebay or emailing jokes. This is paid time and the members hire them to represent them, not play secretary and it is time the members start demanding representation and proper attention at all meetings they are invited to attend. They can take notes if they wish and transfer them onto a computer when they have down time. Actually, is not this the work of the secretary or are we paying for duplication of work. I think we are. CUPE and thier new twenty Million dollar House

I must mention the new building in Ottawa we have 20 plus million tied up in : I think the jury is still out on the actual total cost. Let me put it another way ; the interest on this money could most certainly help a lot of members who only get 10 to 30 hours per week or maybe campaigns that would actually benefit the unionized poor; and trust me on this, there are a lot of unionized poor in cupe. The other aspect of this new building is the only people who wanted it are a select few at the top and they have all the influence over the others. First they authorize a major renovation to the old building , then they decide to purchase a big piece of prime property at a ridiculous price in Ottawa and bring in the same crew who reported the old building to be structurally sound and healthy for the workers and have them condemn the place. On top of this scam , they state that the new building must be in Ottawa : no where else in the country because the national constitution states this. Every time the national constitution has an article or section in it that conflicts with what they would like to do they have it changed; but in this case they leave it alone because they do not want to associate with any other part of the country or any other part of any province because they think they are the next thing to parliamentarians. Once a building with an investment of this size is constructed we are stuck with it and they know it. Accountability is only for the little real people/too bad we did not have a say. Watchdog annie.

CUPE a money making Franchise

Cupe is set up like a franchise giving permission for the membersto use their local as an autonomous local as long as they do not question the big guys outside the office : ( being in front of the membership ),they do not challenge the big guys in front of their peers, and they promote what is not necessarily right for the members and what is not necessarily the full truth. If they do not follow these rules as an executive then they will be terminated by cupe national:not the membership. What I mean by this is, the local will be taken under administration by cupe national at the stroke of a pen. The local will cease to exist and cupe national will own everything the members in their local thought they owned prior to the hammer coming down. I am not going to elaborate on administration today but, let you know how this comes about. The reps., the reg. director, and there is always a rat in the pack who thinks he or she is going to make it to the big leagues will report on a regular basis to the big guy and after a series of unfavourable reports a meeting is held and the godfather or godmother; as they portray themselves, eliminates the local without an inquiry or meeting on the alleged unfavourable material in the reports. Periodically, you may find there is someone in your local who would like to take it over but does not have the support of the membership through the election process; so he or she will orchestrate a couple of dummies to send a series of letters to the national executive complaining about whatever bogus information about the executive they are told to dream up and complain about. This can open the door for people who have not intention of working in the best interest of the local at a future date. The truth of the matter is, a group of volunteers can donate every weekend and evening to representing and assisting their local membership in every possible way; and if the big guys want them not to exist anymore,they are gone-----no questions asked. CUPE and greed

Did you ever wonder why they organize groups of five people or twenty part time workers? This is because of pure old fashion greed : how can you benefit five people who have a bank account with twenty six dollars in it and would like to take the employer on. The employer laughs when they threaten to go to adjudication because the union has to apply for special funding to proceed. I will admit these members end up with a contract and they probably receive some form of senority and possibly a percentage is given towards some form of benefits ; but most organizations who only have a small number of employees are working on such a tight budget, someone is going to lose their job if a major wage package is to go forward at the table. Who loses out? It is the employees: not cupe , because they still collect the dues and the dues goes up every time there is a pay increase so if they lose a member they make it up on the increase. The other component that cupe is notorious for is the number component. If you organize 1000 ( twenty member groupings or unions) at $25. per member per month ;then cupe has an additional one half a million dollars coming in a month to play with. Cupe has number crunchers or stats experts just like the government and these characters advise the top hogs on how to get the easy money. Watchdog annie.

CUPE and YOUR money

Did you ever wonder where all the dues you contribute goes to. Well the first 55 % goes to national to pay for reps., campaigns, buildings, and strike kitty. The 45 % remaining is for local use ; but out of that about 10 % goes toward divisional affiliations, fed. affiliations, local affiliations, etc. this leaves the local with 35 % providing there are no assessments imposed by national that could equate to another 10% of the dues contributed because this is based on a percentage of total payroll. Do I have you confused yet---when it is explained it is like a financial advisor trying to sell you on investing into a deal he wants; but in the end after you have agreed and you get the results of the investment, you do not want but it is too late. The bottom line is if you have 200 members spread out over a region, city , or maybe even a province and they contribute $ 40. per month; the volunteers in your local may only have $2800. per month out of $8000. to service all 200 members. This equates to $14. per member per month and please do not forget it costs between $3500. to $10,000. per adjudication if the union has to only pay one half of the cost of the adjudication. This does not cover lost wages, meals, mileage, or motel expenses or legal fees if you have to hire outside the office. The question is; are you getting the best bang for your buck with this type of divisional setup. Watchdog annie.

What do you think about jack Layton going down to the u.s. to speak with obama and Clinton . Where does this guy get off thinking he has some form of influence over these people/ considering probably neither one of them is going to get the big job at the end of the day. Foremost to this, is the fact cupe and the ndp think we should be taxed to the highest point and do not concern ourselves about how we are going to sell our manufactured goods and our dollar should only be worth 50 cents : so at he end of the day, we can remain abused little controlled socialists. The CUPE sell out

Everyone is familiar with the phrases equal pay for equal work and pay equity. Did you know large unions made deals with government when the pay equity legislation was rolled out and the findings on many classifications compared to similar classifications equated to real raises or adjustments. Some people may have received up to $ 5.00 per hour adjustment but the good old national unions opted for a buck or two at the most and sold it to the members as a major percentage increase and bragged about how hard they negotiated with the government to get this for the members. The truth is they made whatever deal they felt was reasonable and would sell; not what the actual amount equated to. Taking on CUPE

What do you think about taking on the big guys/ do you think it is worth it/do you have deep enough pockets? Well I am here to tell you, it most certainly is worth it because how else are our children and grandchildren going to know the truth about this group and if cupe is doing something wrong then they will at least slow down and think twice before they try the same stunt again. Saying that, does not mean they are going to stop nor does it mean you are going to be successful ; but if the word gets out , things may change for the better down the road. One thing is for sure they may have deep pockets with all the dues collected and they may be willing to lie under oath; but the future population is not going to continue to tolerate the same nonsense we have and may choose another union that is not so large and more vulnerable to criticism and not so protected. CUPE Hipocrits

Since we touched on a few controversial subjects let us just jump to another one and that is the pink triangle committee. This is a group that throughout the country they have trouble getting enough members interested in being on it so they entice people with a few trips and a couple of conferences each year and maybe a title to make them feel important. The botton line here is cupe is labelling people the same way the hipocrits in the community do; but they disguise it by forming a committee that is established to educate members as to how certain situations in the work place can be difficult for people who may not necessarily be considered the norm or the moral majority. True, the top hogs all close their eyes when a speaker is describing what it is like to be labelled and treated differently by some poeple in the workplace; but you should hear how they go on when they are alone with their own kind. They make fun of the whole process and take great pride in the fact they can take advantage and obtain support from the people who are not exactly like them. Please think with a clear and open mind about this subject and what you have really experienced in this organization. There appears to be a similar profile to each of the males and females who possess the desire to be one of the top hogs in the cupe pigry. Usually, these individuals have not flourished to the magnitude of their other family members and their perception of reality is somewhat distorted. Also, most of them have personal issues and have various addiction problems. The fact they can join a cult and they can be permitted to believe they are superior to others in the country and their ideas are recognized as being of the utmost importance by their top hog counterparts draws them into the core of the group. They do attract followers ; and although the followers are similar to themselves, it empowers them to continue on their path of destruction of what it is they are supposed to be doing and attempting to accomplish for the good of the membership. I am not saying they should all be committed; but I do think, most of them should be attending therapy on a regular basis with a psychologist who is not a member of the group. Watchdog annie.

I was surfing the national division web sites last night for something interesting and what did I find but cupe 1251 in new Brunswick has been put under administration; so I contacted a rep. buddy of mine down their and she informed me that 1251 is the local the president of cupe new Brunswick, dan legere, belongs to. Good old moist thought he had the maritimes in his back pocket : well I think he had better think again. Does this mean he is going to have to suck up to sid ryan and start licking the same cigar. CUPE and Negociations

Do national unions really assist your cause when it comes to negotiations? If each union local was autonomous, as is the true sense of autonomy; and they set themselves up associated with a collaberated provincial body for 50 cents per member per month as a speaker for the main issues, then they could operate the way a union should operate without interference and outside control. Most unions that are confined to their own province receive negotiated contracts as much as 10 to 20 % greater for the same type of work than unions that are affiliated to a national body. It makes one wonder what is really going on at the end of the day. We all know how the communist countries keep control of their people : they just give them enough to get by on and nothing more. Is this what the national unions are attempting to do when they interfere in negotiations and push acceptance of less than non national union contracts? Food for thought. Watchdog annie

NDP and CUPE

What do you think about national supporting the ndp. True the ndp party is supposed to be for labour and is funded by the average individual ; but seriously, when they did get into power they put the axe to the gov. workers and devastated the economy. I will admit the other two have no great track records either but the majority of the membership vote for the two larger parties and we have to recognize that. The other thing that really bothers me beyond the fact we only support one party openly ; and that is the fact, certain cupe groups with national’s knowledge have loaned money to the ndp party as cash and not as a donation through a fundraiser. This is a total no no folks and this is the member’s money and should be used specifically for what it is intended for. Lots of things should be investigated to the fullest extent. Watchdog annie.

Another waste of CUPE members Dollars

Hot off the press. Do you know what the new brain wave for the day is---cupe is going to hire diversity reps. for each province to do something about nothing. They refuse to help members who are harassed by other members or defamed through actions and gossip ; but , they are going to spend another $140,000. per year per diversity rep. to say they have specialty reps. who will educate you on diversity or talk to employers about diversity. Some reps., with out a doubt, do a fair amount of what they are supposed to do and others do as little as possible because they are both lazy and really do not know what they are doing. We need reps. who actually care about what they are doing and are willing to give the effort for the members ; not the machine. We also need a system that permits casual reps. not to be able to acquire senority because if you do the boss on a regular basis you will get the extra work; giving you the senority necessary to get the fulltime job. We all know what this means; not necessarily does the most qualified even get casual work nor does he or she end up with the permanent position. I think we need to open up their contract and straighten out a few things the big guys refuse to do; and if we want a specialty person, we will hire them under contract for the period of time we need them then kiss them good-bye. Who runs CUPE

Who runs cupe and who controls it are two different questions. It is run like our governments the small people who are shop steward and small local executives run the organization and help the members from the initial contact right up to adjudication if need be. These are the people who take all the abuse and donate approx. a minimum of 1000 hours without any pay per year to the cause. These are the people who return your phone calls, meet with employers, and fight for service and justice; and they are also the same people cupe and the members toss out like a dirty shirt never to be thought about again once they have served their purpose or have spoken out against the grand puba. Now for the ones who control the organ. They are few in number, they are the top hogs at the national executive board and the reps. who dictate how things are going to be; and if you do not like it, they use their power and influence to stomp you out. They have egos bigger than president bush and they actually think they are running a country—what country we are not sure yet; but one thing is for sure, there is no accountability at this level and they will use all of your resources, being the resources you financed, to take you down when they want to. Canadian Union Of Public Employees Black List

Let us talk about black listing today. Everyone knows what it is but do not like to mention the subject because it should not exist in society today ; but good old cupe has a list and although it is a big secret file just mention someone’s name who has been an outspoken opponent of the powers to be in meetings and conventions and has attempted to enlighten the group and keep things honest. Trust me, they are on the list and will remain on the list until either they retire or die; and who knows, they may still remain on the list in case they come back to life. Righteousness and honesty are not in the vocabulary: they are a figment of one’s imagination in relation to taking the oath of sanctity in the cupe cult. CUPE and Walmart

Did you ever go to a conference or a large meeting or open your mail box and see the demands from this group as to what you should buy and where you should shop and how you should spend the money you do not have. An example of this is when the dictators at national send out propaganda to the average poor members dictating to them not to shop at walmart or eat at mcdonalds because the shoes are made in china and the hamburg may come from the united states or they are not unionized. Well the truth of the matter is; walmart and mcdonalds ,like it or not, will hire people like us who are over 55 or 60 and give us benefits and work to supplement the little pensions we have. The other factor that comes into existence is the take home money we have to work with does not permit us to buy $200. shoes or $100 dresses/slacks. We can only afford $18. shoes and $20. slacks. When you are making $100,000. per year you can talk like that and spend like that. This is reality and this is how we have to live or barely exist. The one thing that does stick out in my mind is they never mention tim hortons: probably because they had just stopped there for a coffee 20 min. prior while they were practising their speech. Try not to spend that $8. a week you have left over after paying the bills all at one place.

Free Meals

Tid bit for today. Did you know that the national pres. and sec. treas. and the rest of the great number of players who sit on the national board along with the reps. that meet in Ottawa on a regular basis receive catered meals and free lunches at various events; but, when it comes to filling out their expense claims, they put in for the complete meal allowance at approx. 1 and ½ the normal rate of regular locals daily permitted amounts.They are ultimately scamming and no one is doing anything about it because they are all in on it. One may ask why the auditors at national do not pick up on it and this is because the claim is for a daily rate and how would they know if they received a free meal unless they were right there---oh, maybe they are right there doing the same?

Contracting out

This topic has always been a favourite of mine and this is contracting out. Oh, they even have a committee at the national level for this/as if we do not know what contracting out is. About three times per year we receive a glossy expensive handout in the mail or at a local meeting that explains to us what cupe has for an interpretation of contracting out and how their big machine is stamping out contracting out. Well mouthing off does not cut it : sure they make a little effort; but if one of their locals is contracting out the work of another local, they ignore it or if an employer is successful in laying off a great number of employees due to contracting out of their service or their jobs then cupe steps in and tries to organize the new contractor workers and too bad so sad for the employees/members who have been displaced who have paid union dues for anywheres up to 30 years to cupe.if you are going to take on a fight take on a fight and do not kick people when they are down and put your hands in their back pockets looking for the change.

What a waste of your money

Let us deviate from the norm today and steer off into one of the committees. Let us look at the green committee or the environmental committee. Well exactly what is it that they do other than have a group of members on expense accounts fly around the country and sometimes to foreign countries and look at programs referring to saving trees or clean water or clean and safe methods of obtaining electricity. This is wonderful in theory but what has it done, we have shut down numerous pulp mills, we have continued to support drinking out of brooks and lakes as long as we add the chemicals, and we have increased the number of nuclear waste sites in our country in support of a few jobs. The thing is you can not continue to talk out of both sides of your mouth just so you can continue to get elected into the big powerful positions ; or can you, because it seems to be working, members are still electing these politicians who say whatever to whoever as long as they are politically correct and it benefits them. We have to wake up and stand up.

Please just give an overview of the specific incident and the end result. This site is about reality and not the fiction that is portrayed by cupe. People need to know the truth because after all it is the people who own this organ. and it is the people’s money that runs it; and if our children and our grandchildren are going to belong to a union body in the years to come, then they need to know the truth so they can watch and monitor organ. like this in an attempt to not have the same thing happen to them. A wise lady once said, sometimes you have to shut an organ. down in order to clean up the mess and start all over again. Of course she also went on to say, every outfit that has a big amount of money attached to it will become corrupt over time. These forms of organ.always attract the sorted types.

Many are afraid to speak out.

Did you realize members actually believe that if they speak out about cupe in relation to some wrong doing that has occurred at the hands of cupe, that they will lose their jobs. Can you imagine the control this organ.has over them. These are intelligent average workers who believe this utter nonsense because idiots in exec. and at the rep. levels have lead them to believe this is so. One can not convince them otherwise because they think, if you have a union job and you are a union member, then if you go against the union you are tossed out like a piece of garbage; and guess what, the union kings and queens enjoy this because they have total control over you and they can do whatever they want. People may not admit this; but, there are more out there than you would expect. The one thing they are right about is the union must represent you by law; but to what degree they represent you is another thing. The moral of the story is speak out but find another way to identify your problem because they will get you and that I guarantee. You will not lose your job but you will be on their hit list.

Did you ever wonder why cupe is so overexcited about getting the casual employees unionized to the extent they can have the right to organize and can be part of a collective agreement. Well the real reason is twofold; one is they want the big money from day one. Imagine the revenue they will get when as much as 20% of the workforce are casuals and they can tap into this big money machine on day one and provide little or no protection than already exists. They neglect to tell you that if they are successful 50% of the casuals will be gone.
The real reason other than the mother load of increased dollars is the fact; collecting union dues from casual employees is illegal and the union owes casual employees megabucks.they want to basically to cover their butts. One may ask the question as to why no one has ever challenged this at a labour board or any other form of legal entity; but the threats that exist for just one person to jump on board let alone organize a group to take them on is too scary for these people.
Unfortunately, this organ. continues to take money from people whose money is not for them to take from them in the first place. I say give them back what is rightfully theirs and do not pretend you are doing something for them in their best interest.

Propaganda

Dear members, it is St. Patrick’s day and what better topic to discuss but the delicate subject of religion and i must make reference to the thousands of dollars CUPE National has spent sending national board members to hear speakers who brain wash them into believing we have all these various assorted problems in our country and in north America; primarily due to people believing in Christianity. what kind of nonsense are these people trying to pull. The people who national send to these events or conferences are the leaders of the union who are going back and speaking on this foolishness at provincial conferences to other union leaders who bow down to these characters and pass on the information to the regular unionized members. well, you want to know where the money is going : it is going towards educating the leaders who educate the next level of leadership who are educating the regular members who are informing their children of such ridiculousness. i am not stating everyone is buying this but on the other hand i do not see anyone trying to put an end to this. there is no accountability or form of policing in relation to the propaganda that is distributed to members.

Lt's get Along

The topic for today is harassment among unionized members. Cupe does not have an harassment policy/ they only train on harassment in the workplace between managment and employee. One of the largest issues that require immediate attention is the harassment that exists and is permitted by cupe between members and other members and members and cupe staff reps. The harassment that is taking place is to such an extreme today that it borderlines on defamation of character and downright abuse. The only action that will take place in this organanization is lip service or a meeting to talk about brothers and sisters. Well I am here to tell you today, if something does not happen soon, there are going to be so many law suits and human rights complaints out there, they will not be able to keep up. The quality of reps. they are hiring have no background in this form of representation or mediation and this is what they like. It is like big government, keeping everyone at each others throats and they can achieve anything they want that they normally would not be able to because the members are too busy fighting and tearing each other apart. It is also a great control mechanism and public relations come on. The big guys come in and clean up the mess and look like heroes when they should have been preventing the mess in the first place.
Oh, they have a big future plan: they are going to look at recommendations in two years as to what they should possibly do about harassment between members. What real teeth does that equality statement have other than a bunch of words that are meant to impress poor people who do not know any better.

What A Deal !

The topic for this evening is negociations. The one thing CUPE likes to do, is make a big hoopla out of having everyone involved in negociations and receiving the proposals from ALL the members; but at the end of the day CUPE will pick the ones they see fit without the help of your negociating team, they think they should be putting forward. They will use one of their reps. to make the presentation if you like; and he or she will meet as many times as you would like them to and appear to be making every effort to get somewhere near where you want to be and they will even jump up and down and scream at the employer to make it look even better : similar to a wwf wrestler would; but at the end of one or two years of negociations they will harass you and coerce you into taking about 1 and ½ % over 5 years with a 1% adjustment over 3 years and tell you you got the best deal of every group they have ever negotiated for. As far as doing research, you better have individuals who know their stuff on your team because their definition of research is two pages with a variable of numbers comparing you to a series of groups you never heard tell of; so that the offer their buddies on the employers side have given you as their "best and final offer" looks as if you got the best thing since Sliced Bread. Once that contract is ratified, they own you for the next 4 or 5 years and they continue to have to do nothing but bull Shit the members and collect the big dues cheques. How about a Low Intrest Loan ?

Well ladies and gentlemen, the tidbit for this evening is another one of corruption and deceit. This occurred in New Brunswick with the CUPE New Brunswick division. A person by the name of C.D. who was the secretary treasurer removed over $100,000.00 and placed it into her personal wealth and made a few loans to friends with the members money during her reign. Robert Hickes was the president of CUPE New Brunswick at the time and he signed the cheques / now Hickes is the regional director for New Brunswick. and P.E.I. the new president Daniel Legere is knowledgeable of the situation and neither one has pushed for this person to be charged. Oh, i forgot, C.D.’s. Sister is way up in CUPE National in Ottawa .

Oh, one more thing, the CUPE New Brunswick division raised the per capita by 25%. No one appears to be concerned about where the money is going and will not question the big guys because they fear they will be bullied right out of their volunteer position for speaking out. They say everyone has their price; and guess what, there are only a few left in this organization that will turn down a shot at the possibility of receiving the golden carrot of a full time reps.job and speak the truth and bring down the big want- to- bees.

The Computer Scam !!

Did you know CUPE National spent 12 million dollars on a computer system that did not work because none of the reps. had the ability to access it properly, it kept breaking down, and it did not facilitate the needs of the members ; so what did they do but scrap the system, wrote off 10 of the 12 million dollars, applied a further assessment (dues) to pay for the write off, and hired the guys who owned the company who built the crap computer system full time with big salaries , pensions, and assorted benefits to design another less complicated system. Guess what; the new computer system still breaks down on a regular basis and the National Executive is puzzled as to why this continues to happen. The new National Secretary Treasurer, Claude Genereux announced at a division conference to the presidents and delegates of this major abuse of the members money and the representatives of the various locals clapped and never asked a question. It is though these people are brainwashed or want to belong to a cult. The members who did ask questions, following the presentation, outside in the lobby were chastised and basically spit on. It was if they were saying how dare you question the Grand Puba dummies----they are our leaders. To this day, no one has investigated where all this money went to and who really got the money. All we do know is the National Pres. And Sec. Treasurer retired the next year very comfortable with Cadillacs for going away presents and their boys took over the two big jobs.

Union Dues

Join the CUPE organization you will get less than nothing for your monthly contribution; or better still, become a CUPE rep. the only prerequisite is stupidity and dishonesty. You will get paid $100, 00.00 per year plus a car and expenses and you can never get fired. Think about it, it is the perfect job for an idiot. If you are a professional harasser you can become a regional director. Now if you want to do less than nothing and lie and manipulate all day and remain in a comfortable salary become a CUPE division president. The whole organization is set up something like Ronald McDonalds----a group of do nothings sitting around discussing about all the work they are not going to do while they swallow a couple of dozen Big Macs that they enter on their expense account as windshield washer. Drop in tomorrow night when we discuss the millions of dollars the national union writes off as a mistake and some of the other scams the reps. and their buddies are involved in, like trying to negotiate a contract when the only thing on their mind is when is dinner.
